June Gloom.

Not to worry, I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth. Been back in sunny California for almost 3 months off, working back at Anthropologie in the OC and spending almost every second of my free time working on my dissertation.

As far as adventures go, I've been frequenting La Quinta every chance I get. It's like those writers who spend months hiding away in some remote cabin in the middle of some remote forest. Ok, maybe not quite like that( i'm not hiding out for least not yet anyways) but it is relaxing just to get away when I can.

Looking forward to going back to England at the end of August to turn this puppy in and not to mention my much awaited trip to Athens, GA in September to see my friends.

Until then.... it's just me, my computer and a stack of books on the Roman family.

Never Stop Beliebing.

This past weekend Eve & I took a quick 24 hour break from our hectic lives & headed to London to see none other than Justin Bieber at the 02 Arena! I'f I wasn't already enough of a Bieber fan, I am now! He was simply amazing.

Through the screaming of the 14 year old girls, the dad behind us on his email the entire show and the girl next to me hitting my legs with her pink tutu the show was great! His vocals live are even better, his Usher inspired dance moves were impressive & of course his sexy abs were hard not to look at. Who cares that his is 19, that's legal! haha

As always, check out my video from our adventure( it wouldn't let me embed it in this post, but you can just watch in through this link!)

P.S. I am continuing my Bieber fever throughout this week, just can't get enough!
P.P.S. Countdown until #'Murica has begun, 17 days!

Living the Castle life

This past weekend Eve & I decided to become true Brits and visit a castle for a much needed getaway. Just saying that still seems so surreal, a reminder that we are not in America. We took a 40 minute cab ride straight into the heart of Dartmoor, which we've actually been to before when visiting the darling town of Lustleigh the first weekend we were in England. Let's just say it MORE than lived up to our expecations.

Upon arrival this is what you see...

The inside of Bovey Castle is straight out of a movie. Complete with a library, study, a very high class bar and a lounge.

Of course our first stop was afternoon tea overlooking the terrace. After words we enjoyed 4 hours of MUCHHHH needed spa treatments.

After dinner we sat by the fire, drank more tea( I think we had at least 10 pots while we were there, it just kept coming) & made new friends with the true king of the castle: Beaky, the african parrot.

Our castle adventure honestly could not become more like a fairytale when we woke up to this view from our room. Absolutely stunning.

After an AMAZING breakfast ( we actually got to eat french toast...or brioche as they call it in these parts) we walked around the back of the castle. I should also mention there are a ton of activities one can partake in including( but not limited to): clay pigeon shooting, falconry, horseback rides through the hills, picnics and stalking( AKA deer hunting).

Basically the only thing missing was a prince on a horse. Maybe next time?! (fingers crossed)
Forget school, we just want to live the castle life forever. :)

"Are we going to take a bath in Bath?!"

Happy February!  The fact that it's already the second month of 2013 is beyond crazy or the fact that I have already been back in England for a month & it is going to be Valentine's day soon, sheesh. Every time I sit down to write a blog post I realize how fast my experience living in England is going & as much as I complain about things ( like carrying groceries a mile, still not comprehending which way to look when crossing the street or the fact that I actually just expect it  to rain every day) summer will be here before I know it! EEK! Looking forward to warm weather.

Anyways, the most recent trip I took that should be marked in my travel diaries is Bath, Somerset. It has been on my list of things to do while living here, so I jumped on the chance to spend the day with Eve
( my usual travel buddy) & Court who came down from Oxford!

We took the train from Exeter St.David's station into Bath( which a quick change in Bristol where we literally ran from track 4 to 15 to catch our train). First stop was the Cathedral, rated a "B" in comparison with Exeter's amazing Cathedral, sorry Bath.

Please note the European below taking a #selfie on his ipad! haha

Then of course we visited the Roman Baths, which was amazing to see but in comparison to others I've seen throughout Italy were relatively small. Being the ancient historian that I am I noticed some of their dates were actually incorrect & Eve got to listen to my lesson hypocausts, hope you learned something ;)

We even got to hang out with the "Mrs. Queen"  for a little bit.

During the afternoon we wandered around the streets of Bath, visiting local shops & taking in the all the things Bath had to offer.

Luckily for us, we stumbled across a Rugby match that actually turned out to be Bath vs Exeter( our home team!). We attempted to understand what was going on, but let's just say we didn't get far.

And no trip would be complete without a video of the my travels!
Watch below for a good laugh!

Upcoming things include a spa weekend with Eve at Bovey Castle(literally an authentic British castle) & a quick trip to London next month to see Justin Bieber! Stay tuned.
Oh ya, school is going good too.

Cheers. :)

Well ya'll this is my first post of 2013, still haven't fully grasped that it is a new year. 2012 was an amazing year for me so I thought I'd share some of the highlights( a bit late, but better late than never I always say)! So here goes:

1. In March I went to New York City & then took the train to Washington D.C with my best friends for Spring Break! What an amazing trip full of HILARIOUS memories this was! Love you guys!

2. I also attended my last Gamma Phi Beta formal at the Fox Theater in Atlanta.

3. By May I got to officially call myself a college graduate where all my hard work earned me a Bachelor of Arts in History degree from the University of Georgia! GO DAWGS!

4. That same month I got to attend the Gphi formal in Santa Cruz & reunite with my lineage.

5. In June, after officially moving back to California, I had a fun graduation party with my friends & fam!

6. I celebrated Evan's 16th Birthday in July! A huge milestone! :)

7. I spent 3 months working at Anthropologie in Orange County. It was THE best job I have ever had & so much fun!

8. Athena turned 1 on August 9, 2012! She's growing up too fast!

9. September marked another year older. 22 and enjoying every moment.

10. I took a leap & moved to England for Graduate school at the University of Exeter, where I've met new friends along the way. I've also got to tour London & other cute British towns since being here.

10. October called for Halloween &  dressed up as an American flag with my friend Eve since we are the best country in the world. DUH!

11. During a week off of school I traveled to Paris, France. Where I visited Disneyland Paris for the first time, ate too many macaroons & got to catch up with my grand little! :)

12. November brought Thanksgiving, the first one I wasn't home for. Eve & I made hand turkeys to ease the pain.

13. And December marked the end of my first semester of Grad school, being able to go home after 3 months & saying goodbye to the core four.

What a year it has been, 2012 was probably one of the best years I've ever had!
The memories are endless.
Here's to 2013, hopefully bigger & better! :)
